The Committee found that current law—including the Modern Slavery Act 2015—is insufficient and not delivering on the UK’s stated aim of forbidding forced labour in corporate supply chains. It highlighted substantial UK imports—estimated at over US $26 billion/year—from high‑risk sectors like electronics, garments, fish, timber, and textiles, many believed linked to forced labour.
